A Review of The Further Festival

FRIDAY JUNE 20, 1997

I remember arguing with Eric the day before the show.  How the hell can they start a show at 4 pm on a Friday?  What do they think, that none of us have jobs?  Eric was able to get out of work early, but I couldn't.  We arrived at the show 3 hours late.  And to my disappointment, we had missed all of Mickey Hart, and half of Bob Weir.  But once we got over that... we had a great time!  First, we would like to commend the staff at the Coral Sky Amphitheater for being friendly and courteous.  Actually, we were shocked.  We decided not to publish our long awaited Boycott Coral Sky web site.

SONG HIGHLIGHTS:  Ashes Ashes, Not Fade Away, El Paso and Iko Iko

MOST COMMONLY HEARD PHRASE AT THE SHOW:  Hey man, nice shirt! (A phrase repeated by many concert goers as Eric walked by. Perhaps Eric enjoyed the attention initially. Perhaps Eric became irritated after the fiftieth time. Perhaps Eric should not have ripped the throat out of the fifty-first. Life is filled with perhaps'.)

NEAT PURCHASES:  A purple and blue rayon mini-dress with a white stars and moons  print.  And two tie-died pillow cases for our Den of Slack.

PEOPLE WE TALKED TO AT THE SHOW:  Bryan and Jerry, The couple from Port St. Lucie, Travis and his friend, our old postman, and Ian.

COOL SITE:  A fully decked VW bus, complete with artwork, bumper stickers and painting.  All set against a painted backdrop that looked very cool with the 3-D glasses.
