Leah 19.5 months

6/1/03 - At 19.5 months, Leah is using more language. She mimicks words (like "circle" and "spot") and points to requested objects. She adores crayons and uses them whenever possible. She is getting better at coloring within the lines!

Boca News

6/6/03 - Leah and mom were in the newspaper! The Boca Raton News came to our exercise class to do a story. The photo of us on the left appeared with their article "Moving with the generations," (Sports section, June 9, 2003). Here's the caption: "Tamara Ronkin works out in a recent Moms and Me fitness class in the Sugar Sand Park field house. Her daughter Leah claps along." How cool!

7/6/03 - Leah is almost 21 months old. She still LOVES to take a bath!

5/11/03 - Leah had her 18-month well visit on Monday. Unfortunately, she wasn't so well, but we went anyway. She felt slightly warm in the morning, and was up to 101.5 by the time we checked in, so they gave her Tylenol. The rest of the exam went okay (except for the crying, of course). Leah weighed 25 pounds and was 32" tall. Both measurements are in the 50th percentile. The fever subsided later that day, but left behind an irritable child with a slight runny nose all week. Perhaps it's because we just moved to a new house, or that the "terrible two's" are coming, but lately Leah throws herself on the floor and cries whenever she doesn't get her way, particularly when she's tired.

6/1/03 - Leah now uses a fork at mealtimes. It's not that we taught her how. One day, we noticed she was using crayons to stab her food and bring it into her mouth, so we gave her a fork and voila-- she eats like a pro. She also speaks more often, although it's still mostly gibberish (long sentences of it). She's a sweet, well-natured child who laughs a lot and gives huge round-the-neck hugs. She now likes to dance and to share. If she takes a sip of juice, mommy or daddy must also take a sip. If she wants to color, mommy or daddy must draw an outline first.

Leah's First Haircut

6/18/03 - Leah, mom and Grandma Janet went to the salon today for Leah's first haircut. Our goal was to get the long pieces out of her eyes and leave the rest long and curly. Leah only cried a little. She looks great!
